Our traditional Posada celebration will be on Thursday, December 1st from 5:30- 7:30 pm. Alll Rama Road families are invited to enjoy an evening of traditional Hispanic foods, piñatas for the kids, and Pre K students will sing.

1. This is a request made by Ms. Vetter the art teacher:
I need help sewing fabric for dolls, for our annual 4th grade sculpture project. I already traced the doll shape on the fabric and I\'ve divded the fabric into \'tens.\' I wrote up instructions to go with each set. There are 11 of these (groups of 10 dolls) to be sewn on a sewing machine. The sewing work requires using a machine to sew a 1/4\" seam, cut out the doll, clip the curves, and turn the fabric inside out. When I did them last year, the sewing part took less than ten minutes per doll, the cutting and clipping of seams took another 5-10 minutes, and turning fabric inside out took about 5 minutes.
2. This request is from PTA:
Packing Popcorn for RamaFest on Thursday, April 7th, 2-4pm in Mrs. Chillemi\'s office. I need atleast 5 more volunteers. We will be packing small bags of popcorn and add an insert for Ramafest and the children will take them home the day before the Ramafest.

March 21st
On Saturday April 9th, 2011 Rama Road will be having a Ramafest from 9 am - 1 pm. There will be lots of games, a yardsale, carwash, cakewalk, raffles, lots of food, music, bounce house, and a bounce slide.
Many staff members, Rama parents, and high school students are helping out by volunteering their time at the Ramafest. We still need more help. We need peple to volunteer the full 4 hour block. We need help at the food stations, cake walk, ticket booths, and tattoo and hair extension booth. We still need 20 more volunteers.

If you are unable to volunteer that day I hope that you and your family will come out to support Rama Road.

February 18th
Rama Road Elementary will be having a Career Day on March 22nd. We need lots of volunteers to come that day to share their occupation with the students. The time of the event is from 8 am - 11:30 am. If you are interested we need you to commit to the entire 3.5 hours. If you could please dress how you would normally dress at your job. We will have a group of volunteers in the gym and a group in the media center. There will be tables for the volunteers to stand/sit at where the kids will approach you with questions. Please bring any items you can put on the table as visual aides.

December 6th - 10th is the Rama Road Book Fair.
The hours of the Book Fair are 7:30 - 1:00. We need lots of volunteers for this to work.

Hey Everyone,
I am still looking for someone to donate a new or used Leapster for a student here at Rama. If you are interested call me at the school. I can give you some information on why the Leapster would really help out a particular student.
Also a second grade teacher is looking for different colors of masking tape to label her books in her classrooms for particular levels.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend.
I havd a teacher come to me and ask for items that can be used as incentives in her classroom....basically items the students could earn. Some popular items would be purses, jewelry, hair bows, books, trucks, cars, cute items from the dollar store. Please keep in mind any of these items can be gently used. So clean out your closets and drop these items off to Mrs. Chillemi\'s office.
Also I have a 2nd grade teacher needing assitance in her classroom EVERY Tuesday - Friday 7:30 - 8 for the entire school year. If you are available for one of these days of the week or all of them please let me know. This would be perfect for someone to stop in for the 30 minutes before they head to work. You would be helping students read and helping the student take an online test in regards to the book they have read.
I still have one slot open for the Social Venture Partners Math Program. The days you must select from are Monday - Thursday. You have 2 choices of times 11:30 - 12 or 8 - 8:30. Please e-mail me at deanna.chillemi@ cms.k12.nc.us if intereted.
